MANDALUYONG  CITY, Philippines – At EDSA Shangri-La Hotel’s Boracay Hall, on August 2, lunchtime,  an exclusive press conference was held for the one and only Superstar, Nora  Aunor, hosted by TV5.

La  Aunor came home after a long stay for eight years of stay in the US and hiatus  from Philippine entertainment circuit. She announced her arrival via her friend  German Moreno’s radio program on DZBB.

Nora AunorNora Aunor was sitting alongside with her long-time showbiz best friend German 'Kuya Germs' Moreno at the a panel before the media men exclusively organized by TV5.

During her stay here  in the country, Nora is slated to do shows for TV5 and a movie with Gov. ER  Ejercito to be directed by Tikoy Aguiluz. The role of Maria Agoncillo, the  second wife of General Emilio Aguinaldo, the first President of the Republic of  the Philippines has been offered to her in the filming of ‘El Presidente’ and  is intended to be an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

Though La Aunor was  just the second choice for the role, she has no qualms of pursuing the project,  after all, she has nothing to prove anyway.

At the afternoon  function, Nora’s fans, supporters, and mostly press people who have witnessed  the rise of the Superstar into stardom were all there.

Despite  her absence, people are still interested about her and what she has been doing.  A question was thrown at her if what could she say about Regine Velasquez  tagging Angeline Quinto as the next Superstar and a follow-up question if she  knew the celebrity that Velasquez was referring to, but she just dismissed it  with, “Let’s not focus on those types of issues.”

Also,  La Aunor is free to do some guesting and some films, but it should be coursed  through TV5 first.

She  was born as Nora Cabaltera Villamayor. She always loved to sing, and she was  barely 13 when she had her first taste of success, winning Naga City’s ‘Darigold  Jamboree’s Bulilit Singing Contest’ where she sang ‘You and the Night and the  Music.’ She joined the contest out of necessity – her older sister needed P20  for her tuition and the rest was history. La Aunor was a great success story in  Philippine entertainment industry breaking all traditions of making it a big  star even if she’s not the ‘mestiza’ type.

As an artist, she  also won countless citations, recognitions and awards for her acting. She was  named URIAN’s Best Actress for her portrayal in ‘Atsay’ and FAMAS’s ‘Tatlong  Taong Walang Diyos’, respectively. However, it was Gil Portes’ film ‘Andrea,  Paano Ba ang Maging Ina?’ that gave her second Best Actress grand slam – from  the FAMAS, URIAN, FAP and Metro Manila Film Festival.

Over  t he  years, she still reassured her fans and supporters that she is still the same  Nora they used to know before. She still remains the crazy type of personality.

Nora’s  first series of her fans days is set on Sunday, August 7 at Broadway Centrum.
