This is the first time that Julia Montes is paired with the handsome Coco Martin. They essay the roles of Katarina and Daniel, respectively.
MANILA, Philippines – Opening today, January 16, after Budoy
’s timeslot and replacing My Binondo
at 9:10pm is the biggest gathering of stars on a television series is the latest offering of ABS-CBN Channel 2’s Walang Hanggan
. It features two of Philippine Movie Queens in their respective times, Susan Roces and Helen Gamboa with the one of the bankable loveteams in the 90s—Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta as well as the newest and soon-to-be-the-hottest and first-time team-up on the boobtube, Coco Martin and Julia Montes.
During the press conference held on the 14th floor of Eugenio Lopez Jr. Communications Center (ELJCC) building on Mother Ignacia Avenue—all the cast members were in attendance.
Two Queens of Philippine cinema are brought together--Helen Gamboa as Margaret and Virginia.
Both Roces and Gamboa still managed to compete with their younger co-stars in terms of adulation and applauses from the mixed ages of press people, but mostly dominated by senior entertainment writers. The Richard Gomez-Dawn Zulueta loveteam also managed to drew some cheers from the crowd, but the loudest was for Coco Martin and Julia Montes, which is seen to be the next John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo loveteam.
Three of ABS-CBN's promising talents are also part of the cast: (L-R) Paulo Avelino as Nathan, Melissa Ricks as Johanna, and Joem Bascon as Leo.
One question that was thrown to Roces, Gamboa and Zulueta was: “Apart from being successful in the showbiz circuit (as Philippine Movie Queens), what would you want people to remember you of?”
Gamboa and Zulueta had a common, but two different answers: they both want to be remembered as mothers. However, Roces simply want to be as the woman with a gentle heart who has so much love to give to the people around her.
The teleserye is admittedly a take-off from the novel Wuthering Heights
by Emily Brontë
that was published in 1847, and was also a subtle reworking of another Gomez-Zulueta film back in 1991 titled Hihintayin Kita sa Langit
with Carlos Siguion-Reyna as their director back then. Today, ABS-CBN Channel 2’s Walang Hanggan
is another ambitious production that brings together three generation of bankable stars.
