MAKATI CITY, Philippines – 9Works Theatrical
will be making Filipino Peanuts Gang fans happy as it will be staging a Broadway musical titled ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ on February 11 to March 3, 2012 at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza.

Essaying the role of Charlie Brown is 9Works Theatrical’s artistic director, Robbie Guevara. His real-life sister, the understudy for Kim and Gigi in ‘Miss Saigon’ London cast (1995-1997) Carla Guevera-Laforteza breathes the character of Lucy. Linus will be tackled by Franco Laurel, Schroeder is Tonipet Gaba, Sally is Sweet Plantado-Tiongson, and the dog Snoopy is Lorenz Martinez.
The production of ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ has veteran actor Michael Williams to take on the directorial task. Williams lists some directorial assignments he had in the past, like Repertory Philippines’ ‘Sweeney Todd’, ‘Proposals’, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, ‘Defending the Caveman’, ‘Love, Loss, and what I wore’.
Carla, made an interesting note about how she and the rest of the actors portray the well-loved roles of Peanuts Gang, “It is about being the character and NOT pretending to be a kid.”
Toff de Venecia who alternates for the role of Linus is also the assistant director. Joseph Tolentino and Sweet Plantado-Tiongson are the musical directors for instrument and vocal, respectively. Deana Aquino (the choreographer), Mio Infante (the scenographer), Martin Esteva (lights designer), Chuck Ledesma (sounds designer), Infante and Twinkle Zamora (costume designers), Larry Palma (graphics designer) and Richard Lazaro (photographer)—complete the artistic team.
During the press conference held on the 38th floor of the Loft in Manansala Building beside Powerplant Mall, Rockwell Complex, Wednesday, January 11—the cast did their rendition of the popular song ‘Happiness’.
Santi Santamaria, executive producer says, “This is the first time that 9Works would stage an experimental production—more simple and is geared towards the young audiences.”

‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ is based on the Comic Strip ‘Peanuts’ by Charles M. Schultz; with book, music and lyrics by Charles Gesner; additional dialogue by Michael Mayer; additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa; original direction by Michael Mayer, and was originally produced in New York by Arthur Whitelaw and Gene Persson.
